  • Can my child join a team in the middle of a session?
    No. We want each player to get the full team experience and only allow players to join after going through tryouts.
  • If I register my child for a team, are we "guaranteed" a spot?
    Yes! Each player makes the team and will get equal playing time.
  • Do you provide all girls teams?
    Generally our teams are co-ed. We try our best to group as many girls together on a team as possible, but it all depends on enrollment numbers.
  • Why do you have tryouts?
    Whether your child has never picked up a basketball or has been playing since birth, we want to match each player with their correct skill level team. Our tryouts are designed to assess each player's skills for appropriate team placement.
  • What rim height will teams play on?
    Kindergarten-1st grade will practice and play on an 8 foot rim. Beginner and intermediate 2nd grade grade teams will practice and play on 10 foot rims. Silverback Elite teams 2nd grade teams will practice and play on both in season and tournament games.
  • How many players are on each team?
    We generally like to have 8-10 players per team to allow for the most playing time per child.
  • How long are games and practices?
    Practice Practices are in the evening for 1 hour, 1 time per week on a weekday. Silverback Elite teams will practice in the evening for 2 hours, 1 time per week on a weekday. Games In season games are held on Saturdays and there is usually 1-2 games per day. Each game is up to 1 hour including warm up and half time. Silverback Elite teams will play Saturday and/or Sunday, up to 2 games per day.

    That's great news! We'd be more than happy to have your child join The Silverback Family. Visit silverbackbball.com/enrollment and select the appropriate team level. We'll see you at tryouts!
  • What ages do your teams go up to?
    At this time, our academy is specifically for kindergarten-2nd grade. We plan on expanding in the future with specific programs for higher grade levels.
  • How many players are at each clinic?
    Each clinic is different and the number of players can vary. We try to keep a ratio of 10:1 between players and coaches.
  • Are clinics co-ed?
    Yes we welcome boys and girls to our clinics!
  • What is your policy for allowing children with specials needs into your program?
    While we welcome all players, our coaches do not have any formal training for children with special needs. If you decide to join our program, please reach out to our program director to determine the best ways to aid in player development.
  • If my child is struggling in practice or a clinic, is it ok for me to be on the court to help my child?
    One of our core values is Ownership. We believe in taking responsibility for our actions and helping children grow their independence. We strongly urge parents to stay off the court especially if players get frustrated or emotional, however if parental support is necessary feel free to step in.
  • I think my son is advanced. Can he move up a level even if he is not old enough?
    Yes and no... We only allow players to move up one level. In order to do so, they must practice with the upper level team once in order make sure it is a true fit. From there we will determine if the switch is appropriate.
  • Even if my daughter is not old enough, can she be put on the same team as her older sister?
    No. They only way we will consider the team switch it has to be for skill reasons. Otherwise, we like to keep all players with their grade level.

  • Are there any payment options?
    We offer 2 convenient payment options. Option 1 100% Payment made at the time of enrollment. Option 2 Biweekly payment plan that can be selected during checkout.
